People have been adorning themselves with jewelry as a form of personal expression for tens of thousands of years. Jewelry should make the wearer feel attractive and speak to their interests and lifestyle. We at GYM GEMS™ want our jewelry to be beautiful & fashionable. Gym Gems offers superbly crafted jewelry designs for men and women who want to express their love of fitness.
When it comes to fitness, especially women’s fitness, Columbus, Ohio (home of Gym Gems) is as close as it gets to being the world hub. Columbus is the site of the original Arnold Classic, and home of an extraordinary trainer named Mike Davies, who trains many of the top fitness competitors in the country. Mike works out of the Worthington Metro Fitness (formerly World Gym).
Gym Gems had its debut at the Fashion Show at the Arnold Classic 2004 Expo and was an instant hit! Thank you to Classic Productions and Jen Hendershott for helping to give Gym Gems its launch!
Fran Frost Sherman,GYM GEMS™ Founder
Fran has a B.S. degree in Geology from The Ohio State University. She was led to the jewelry industry when she took a part-time job at a store called What On Earth, which was owned by a geologist, specializing in minerals, fossils and nature-related items. Included in the mix were unusual gems and two very talented goldsmiths, including BJ Erickson who is responsible for helping to turn the Gym Gems concept into reality. After college Fran became manager of the store and pursued an education in gemology (she is a graduate gemologist, Gemological Institute of America). She helped to guide What on Earth into another niche: the store became the best source of colored gemstones in the central Ohio area. Not only did the store provide superb gemstones to be set in jewelry, it also catered to gem connoisseurs who built museum-quality personal gem collections. Fran’s expertise assures that all Gym Gems products meet the highest standards of quality jewelry.
Ten percent of all profits generated by GYM GEMS™ are donated to charity. Donations are dedicated to Denise "Dee" Frost who is the inspiration behind GYM GEMS™. She was an avid athlete and coach in her day and an enthusiastic fan of many different sports. Until her death due to cancer in January 2004, Dee never lost her intense joy of life and her childlike sense of fun and adventure.
